Pompeii, Herculaneum & Mont Vesuvius

As soon as you get to the entrance of Pompeii site, you will see the ancient roman city almost in its entirety in front of your eyes: houses, public baths, buildings, squares and a lot more, standing until today. Everything will give you the chance to live a day like you were a Roman citizen and to merge in the genuine spirit of this important port town of the past.

Herculaneum has maintained better compared to Pompeii, probably because it had a different process of carbonation, that helped to keep the ruins nearly untouched: carbonized furniture, clothing and artistic and colored mosaics are just some of the items you can find in your walking there. Striking are actually the human skeletons uncovered on the ancient shoreline, caught by surprise by coming of volcanic material on them.

Mount Vesuvius is the volcano which destroyed the towns of Pompeii and Herculaneum, through its terrible eruption in A.D. 79. You can get to the top of the crater and listen to the silence, imagining the cloud of ash and rocks which, during the eruption, was sent from here on the surrounding towns… In your hike, don’t miss the opportunity to take a glance to the Gulf of Naples and Pompeii, which offer from here, spectacular and breathtaking bird’s-eye views.
